Turning The Camera On?

Thanks Neil. I have A LOT of opinions on this myself, but will let others weigh in. I will note this isn't a debate confined to bankers! Check out this WSJ story today - The Latest Remote-Learning Battle: Requiring Kids to Keep Cameras On

Subject: Turning The Camera On?

As I participate today in the ABA Community Banking Conference I am mindful of our industry approach to using video.  As we become comfortable consuming video, shouldn't we as professionals become comfortable turning our cameras on?  I find that a majority of bankers opt to have their cameras off. Some of my best experiences in the last 12 months with bankers have occurred when the top executives have announced at launch "OK Bankers Let's Turn Our Cameras On".  What a simple thing to do.  What a powerful thing to do in my opinion as the impact of being engaged in both visual and audio modes makes the engagement much higher.  What would your team say about how you personally and other top leaders in your organization have shaped and developed your internal culture regarding turning on your cameras when on calls with clients and teammates?  Do you see any downside to turning those cameras on?  Why would turning cameras on not become common practice for professionals?
