Tuesday Topic: The CLARITY Act Is the Starting Line

Much of the debate around the CLARITY Act has focused on stablecoin yield. But the larger story is the framework taking shape around digital assets, according to this article. It argues that as regulatory uncertainty eases, the focus will shift from Washington to product strategy. The more important question, then, is not whether banks should issue stablecoins, but whether they will connect to the infrastructure now being built by payment networks, exchanges, fintechs (and other banks). The main risk is that customers gradually shift to providers that offer better experiences and broader capabilities. As the article puts it, “banks can choose to build—or be built around.”

What digital asset capabilities, if any, belong on your institution’s roadmap? How do you evaluate partners, platforms, and emerging infrastructure? If customer demand accelerates, how quickly could your bank respond?
