Summer Interns

We hire summer interns on a regular basis.  We rotated their duties while they are with us.  We usually starting with a teller position and then rotate to several different departments (compliance, lending, auditing etc).  Several of our summer interns come back year after year, which has been very beneficial in those summer months.

We are considering adding a summer internship program for a college student and wondered if anyone would mind sharing what they have done.  We are struggling with what kind of projects this type of position could really be expected to perform and without taking too many already stretched thin resources.  Summer time is obviously a prime vacation time for our staff and with 36 employees it seems that we are already pretty thin when it comes to extra time to give to an intern.  Any thoughts are appreciated.
