Regionals Suffer Deposit Outflows, Rate-Cut Delays Spark Concern
Of the nine regional banks with assets between $100 billion and $1 trillion, seven lost deposits during the second quarter (and five posted year-over-year declines) as funding competition ratcheted up, S&P Global Market Intelligence wrote. It’s a stark shift from the first quarter, when six of the banks reported increases in deposit balances. Check out the breakdown of deposit and margin trends at each of the banks on page 1.
