Outsourced Core Processing

​We are a Fiserv Premier bank that moved from in house to outsourcing.  Because we were still using the same Premier program the move was transparent to our customers and most of our staff.  We made the move because of the difficulty in finding an IT manager that understands the banking business that is located in a small community  is problematic .  By outsourcing we had better redundancy in disasters.  Our bank is located in a hurricane area and we had a lot of problems running our system during the aftermath of a previous disaster which created power problems.  Following Hurricane Harvey last year, we never had a problem processing our Banks' data, because Fiserv's processing is located out of state.  Fiserv also has a redundant site in the event their main operations were affected  The only frustration with outsourcing is the cost of computer services are slightly higher than when we ran in house.

Everyone - we are currently and in-house Fiserv Premier bank.  We are looking at several vendors, including Fiserv, but looking primarily at going outsourced as our mainframe computer is nearing end of life.  For those banks who have converted to oursourced in the last 5 years - i have some questions:

1.  Would you make the same decision again?
2.  What is your main frustration with being outsourced?
3.  What advice would you give someone looking to go outsourced, knowing what you know now.
