Funding Costs Moderate While Overdraft Income Rises
Banks' overall funding costs rose at a moderate pace in the second quarter, S&P Global Market Intelligence wrote. Savings-deposit costs increased 8 bps to 1.98% after an 11 bps increase in the first quarter, and interest-bearing transaction-deposit costs increased 4 bps to 3.18% after declining in the first quarter.
Another S&P post discussed how banks' overdraft-fee income increased in the second quarter after hitting a three-year low in the first.
