FDIC Treatment of Reciprocal Deposits
I looked at the same Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, and in my view, not much is still under discussion. The FDIC asked for comment on some particulars about how to implement Section 202 of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, which made most reciprocal deposits non-brokered. The proposed rule would implement the new law, and the comments requested by the FDIC appear to get to how best to achieve that objective. We are looking at the NPR in more detail now and will be working with the national trades to prepare a comment letter.
