Community Banks Post Mixed Results in Q3, Credit Issues Largely Contained
Earnings were a mixed bag for community banks last quarter. Out of 57 institutions that reported by Oct. 28, 32 reported year-over-year declines in earnings per share, while 35 reported quarter-over-quarter increases, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Additionally, of banks between $5 and 10 billion that trade on a major exchange, 19 grew EPS quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year, while 16 posted declines quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year.
