Bank Executives Brace for Persistent Funding Pressure
Bank executives are growing more cautious about funding and growth. Just 9% expect funding costs to decline over the coming year, a 53-point drop from a year ago. Meanwhile, compared to last quarter, fewer banks reported lower funding costs over the past 12 months. Expectations for loan demand have also softened, with only 38% anticipating improvement over the next year, down from 56% at the end of 2025.
